The Jefferson City Cantorum is offering the J. Patrick Healey Scholarship to graduating seniors in the Jefferson City area who have participated in choral music.

This scholarship is awarded in recognition of Mr. Healey’s contribution to the Jefferson City community through his 38 years as director of the Jefferson City Cantorum community choir. The scholarship will be awarded to a senior student who has shown an exceptional interest in choral music by actively participating in the choral music program and who plans to attend college in the fall, regardless of his/her intended major.

Applicants must be students at Jefferson City High School, Helias High School, Calvary Lutheran High School, Linn High School, Blair Oaks High School, and Southern Boone High School, or be a home-schooled student residing in the area served by one of those schools.

Deadline to apply is the first week of February. To receive a scholarship packet, send a request to jccantorum@yahoo.com.

Applicants also must submit:

  1. A brief written personal statement by the student about the importance of singing in his/her life.
  2. A brief resume highlighting the student’s musical “career,” including musical instruction, activities, and performances.
  3. A brief recommendation from a choral director familiar with the student’s work as a member of a chorus.

All requirements listed must be met, or the application will not be considered.

Applications must be received by deadline. The scholarship is awarded each year at the Cantorum’s spring concert. Free tickets will be provided to the recipient and her or his family members.
